Since 1968 the Hotel Fontana Fontana is owned and run by the Stainer family. The building was originally built in the 18th century and restored in 1984. The typical atmosphere of a venetian house and the friendly staff will make you feel at home.

Hotel Fontana Fontana (also known as Casa Fontana) is centrally located in a small square called San Provolo, just behind the square of San Zaccaria.
The Hotel Fontana was also a convent for about 30 years, where a few German nuns lived until 1968 at which point it was taken over by the Stainer family. Fontana was the name of the former owner, who lived there in the 19th century.

Two rooms, on the garden side, have a private terrace with a view of San Zaccaria church. Most of the rooms are suitable for families with children.

Campo San Provolo is just a 5-minute walk from St. Mark's Square and even less from the main waterbus stop (San Zaccaria).
Immediately, as you leave the hotel, you have San Zaccaria's church with its fabulous paintings by Bellini and Tintoretto.
St. Mark's square with the Basilica, the Campanile (bell tower), the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are only a few steps away from the hotel. In just 10 minutes you find yourself at the Rialto, with its crowded markets, placing you really in the middle of Venetian life.

Wherever you are coming from, you can quickly and easily reach the Fontana: all the main waterbus lines stop at San Zaccaria.
From Santa Lucia railway station or Piazzale Roma (Car/Bus Terminal) take line 1, slow route through the Grand Canal (45 min), line 51 or 41 faster route through the Giudecca Canal (20/25 min).
From Tronchetto CarPark, by waterbus: take line 2 slow route through the Giudecca Canal (30 min).
From Marco Polo Airport: take the Alilaguna watershuttles (1 hour).
