Standing in the shadow of York Minster, this ancient inn was the birthplace of the notorious plotter intent on blowing up the Houses of Parliament on 5 November 1605.
Today the inn is the finest in the city and one of the best-preserved in the country. With gas lighting, timber floors, roaring log fires, huge settles, ales served from barrels behind the bar and a grandfather clock ticking in the corner, this dark and mysterious inn is a treasure. It is also home to the world-famous Guy Fawkes Ghost Walk.
There are beautiful Fawkes Guy bedrooms and the stunning Belfry Suite. Free parking is available in the centre of York; reserve your car parking permit when making your reservation.
Rominformasjon
Take the winding, uneven timber staircase to the top of the inn and you will quickly discover what makes Guy Fawkes such a unique place. You will feel as though you can almost touch the Minster from some of the bedrooms! The Belfry Suite has a perfect view of the church where Fawkes was baptised.
Whichever room you choose, you will find it to be beautifully decorated and furnished. Sit back with a bottle of chilled champagne and take time to relax and think about the history that surrounds you.
Mat og Drikke
The chefs prepare good, simple homemade Yorkshire food, and fresh, local and in-season ingredients are always used. The delicious selection of pies will tempt anyone.
Guy Fawkes Inn takes its Real Ales seriously and has up to 8 on offer at any one time. Its own Guy Fawkes 1605 Strong Ale and The Conspirator are both highly recommended. In the true spirit of democracy, customers can vote on which ale to keep and which to take off! The wine list also includes some lovely fruit wines.
Some of York's finest eateries are owned by the inn, including the revered Harvilles Restaurant. Staff at the inn will be glad to assist with priority reservations at any of their restaurants and bars.
