Hotel Locanda Vivaldi was inaugurated at the end of 1999, after painstaking and long restructuring works on the building adjacent to the Church of Pietà.
In 1703, Antonio Vivaldi was ordained a priest and started to work as a violin teacher in the Pietà conservatory, where he remained until 1740.
After only 6 months of priesthood, Vivaldi no longer wished to celebrate mass. He was nicknamed the Red Priest and Goldoni explained that he was so-called because of his fire-red hair. According to other sources, this name was given to him because of his permanence at the Pietà Institute, where the 'daughters' of this hospice, his pupils, used to wear a scarlet colour.By Train:

By Plane:
- Venice Airport (Marco Polo International Airport) is approximately 7 miles from Venice.
- The hotel is easily reached by private water taxi.
- Treviso Airport is approximately 17 miles from Venice. The hotel can be reached by a bus service, which meets all principal flights.
- The service will arrive at Piazzale Roma (the main car park in Venice), where you can then catch the public ferry line number 51 or 1 to San Zaccaria.
